Closure warning by Pakistan Textile Sector

Pakistan’s textile sector cooperation showed fear about shutting down of textile industries as there is no output. There are more industries in the market but business of textile is not going well on national as well as international level.  

The textile industries would shut sown in future because of business losses in textile sector. In a meeting on Monday, value added textile forum coordinator and Pakistan apparel chairman Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, exporters association chairman, Pakistan hosiery manufacturers and other concerned authorities participated.

Loss due to closure

In this meeting, the participants pointed out that with shutting down of textile industries, around 7 million workers will be jobless, 4 million of which are textile workforce. The industry officials reported that high price and delay in import of raw materials results in late completion of export orders. The price of raw materials is even more than exports benefits which result in financial loss for industries as well as economy.

The Pakistan textile exporters were also not able to participate in global textile exhibition in Germany. The participation got rejected because of slow development in textile production and trade of Pakistan. The textile industry demanded government to give top priority to textile raw material as they give priority to other imports like wheat, oil, and food items.

The industrial association showed anger for government that government is not ready to strengthen the economy and help the industrialists. If the government is will not support textile firms, we will go on whole country protest by shutting down the industries.

The industrialists also demanded supply of gas and electricity to best level so that there will be no delay in production, import/export process of textile sector
