climate change 2023
Climate change is not just a distant problem, it’s a crisis that’s knocking on our doors. Scientists are spreading the word and telling how dangerous it is for living beings.life on Earth is in extreme danger. This warning is based on a recent report that looks at the extreme weather events and rising temperatures we’ve experienced in 2023.
The year 2023 will become the hottest year according to reports. Around the world, we’ve witnessed devastating heatwaves, floods.. These events are more dangerous and regular than we expected. which is leaving people in great terror.
The core of the issue lies in our minimal progress in reducing the emissions responsible for heating the planet. Greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the Earth’s atmosphere, are at record levels. Moreover, subsidies for fossil fuels have surged in the past year.
This grim assessment comes just before the UN COP28 climate negotiations.
The report reviewed 35 “vital signs” of the planet, and 20 of them have reached record extremes this year. Even a small increase of 1.2 degrees Celsius in global temperatures above pre-industrial levels has triggered catastrophic consequences.
The El Niño weather phenomenon has caused really hot weather in the past three months, breaking temperature records. This is bad for sea life, coral reefs, and tropical storms.
What’s worse, we’re having more days with temperatures over 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than before industrialization. This could lead to serious damage, like melting ice sheets, thawing permafrost and Coral reefs dying.
But there’s still hope if we act now. We need to reduce pollution so we can stop temperatures from rising too much. Even small efforts can help billions of people avoid terrible conditions in the future.
According to the report all world leaders need to take strong action and together we can save life on earth .
