On Sunday, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari discussed industrialization, economic coordination, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Taking to Twitter, Bhutto thanked Wang for his reception and gracious hospitality.
The huddle was held in Guangzhou, where the Pakistani foreign minister arrived earlier today on his bilateral visit at Wang’s invitation. This is Bilawal’s first tour of China since assuming office in April.
“During wide-ranging talks with State Councilor Wang Yi, discussed enhanced economic engagement, trade, investments, industrialisation and CPEC cooperation. Issues facing students were also discussed,” Bilawal said, adding that both countries were committed to elevating the multi-faceted partnership to even greater heights.
The Pakistan embassy in Beijing shared some pictures of Wang showing Bhutto a photo album depicting Pakistan-China bilateral ties earlier in the day.
It also shared pictures of the two foreign ministers cutting a cake commemorating 71 years since the official establishment of diplomatic ties between the two neighbors.

Yesterday, Bilawal Bhutto said his visit coincided with the 71st anniversary of Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with China.
“Landed in Guangzhou, China on my first bilateral visit. Today also marks the 71st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China. Looking forward to meeting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for in-depth discussions on Pakistan-China relations,” Bilawal tweeted after arriving in the Southern Chinese city, which is also the largest city and capital of Guangdong province.
Bilawal left for the two-day visit to the neighboring country on Saturday, which was the first in-person interaction between the two countries since the coalition government took over in April.
As per the Chinese state-affiliated Global Times, Bilawal’s visit was a part of the high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, which recently also included the message of congratulations to PM Shehbaz Sharif from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and a conversation between the two leaders on May 16, 2022.
