Rally Held In Islamabad To Mark Kashmir Black Day

Kashmir Black Day rally

Kashmiris observed the 79th anniversary of Kashmir Black Day rally and held a solidarity walk on October 27, 2026, on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad. It marks the 1947 landing of Indian forces in Srinagar and is observed as Kashmir Black Day by Pakistan each year.

Kashmir Black Day Rally Held On Constitution Avenue

The walk, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, started from Constitution Avenue to D-Chowk. Foreign Secretary Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting.

Solidarity With Kashmiris; Demand For Self-Determination

The event was meant to express solidarity with the people of what Pakistan calls the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, organisers said. They also condemned alleged human rights violations and demanded the right to self-determination through United Nations resolutions.

The theme has been a constant feature of Pakistan’s diplomatic discourse. PM Shehbaz called for peaceful resolution in his meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and Islamabad has also stressed that the Kashmir issue should be kept in focus along with the India-Pakistan ceasefire. The UN debate on Kashmir at the 81st session of the General Assembly gave the subject yet another international platform.

Backing Azad Kashmir

Closer to home, the federal government has pledged support to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the region that federal resources would be utilised to speed up development and improve public services.

Political continuity in the region also drew attention on 24 September 2026 when Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan was elected president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir with 32 votes in Muzaffarabad. The orderly election is indicative of a working democratic process.

Complementary Tracks Of Diplomacy And Development

The broader policy issue is how to combine annual remembrance with ongoing action. Regular diplomatic engagement at the United Nations, consistent contact with international partners and well-documented reporting on rights concerns would give Pakistan’s position a strong evidential footing.

Development at home is just as important. Reliable health, education and infrastructure services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir also support the argument that Pakistan sees the region as a long-term responsibility. A combined approach of dialogue abroad and delivery at home could keep the issue credible and constructive.
