Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured Azad Jammu and Kashmir that the federal government will mobilise available resources to accelerate development and improve public services across the region. The assurance came while the prime minister, in his capacity as Chairman of the AJK Council, administered the oath to four newly elected council members.
The newly elected members, Ch Latif Akbar, Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas, Ch Muhammad Saeed and Ch Manzoor Ahmed, were elected by the AJK Legislative Assembly under Article 21(4) of the AJK Interim Constitution, 1974. Shehbaz Sharif described the Council as an important bridge between AJK and Pakistan and urged its members to work for regional prosperity.
Education And Healthcare Highlighted In Development Plan
The prime minister urged the AJK president and prime minister to make full use of their constitutional responsibilities while addressing public concerns through consultation and cooperation. He said federal support would help provide greater impetus to development initiatives across the region.
Education, healthcare and basic amenities were specifically highlighted as areas where services should reach communities more effectively. The commitment places public welfare and improved access to essential facilities at the centre of the federal government’s development approach for AJK.
AJK Development Agenda Gains Greater Federal Attention
The latest commitment follows recent federal discussions on AJK development, including a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The meeting reviewed road refurbishment, socio-economic initiatives and administrative coordination, with emphasis on timely completion of projects and efficient use of financial resources.
