PSL 2025 is moving to Dubai due to tension between India and Pakistan
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced it was shifting the remaining eight matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season to the United Arab Emirates due to heightened military tensions with India.
This news comes after suspected Indian drone crashed in via to the parking lot of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, just hours before that day’s PSL match featuring international players from New Zealand, Australia, West Indies, South Africa, and England.
In a statement released early Friday morning, PCB Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged that the PCB is committed to trying to keep sports and politics separate, but the safety of our local and foreign players is paramount. “The PCB has decided to move the remaining matches to the UAE so that domestic and foreign cricketers who are our guests and precious guests will be safe. Naqvi said.
The original plan was for the remaining PSL fixtures to take place in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore. When the updated schedule, new venues, and new dates are confirmed for Dubai, those details will be announced.
This is the first return of the PSL to the UAE, which had the first few early years of the PSL in the UAE in 2016-2017 and then some matches in 2021 during COVID-19.
