Junaid Jamshed’s 8th death anniversary is an occasion for emotional remembrance
Thousands of fans on Saturday will celebrate the eighth birth anniversary of iconic vocalist-turned-performer Junaid Jamshed on his eighth birthday.
According to details, Jamshed, whose iconic voice was behind popular songs such as ‘Aitbar’, ‘Naraz Ho’, ‘Tera Karam Mola’ and ‘Tamhra Aur Mera Nam’, left an indelible mark in the music industry and later in the field of spiritual devotion.
Born on 3 September 1964 in Karachi, Junaid began his musical journey during his school days. He rose to fame in 1987 with the formation of the band Vital Signs and introduced the anthem ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’, which has remained a national favourite.
At the height of his career, Junaid experienced a career shift. In 2004, he bid farewell to the world of music and dedicated himself to spreading Islamic teachings and performing religious songs.
His impassioned performances such as ‘Dil Badal Dee’ earned him fame in his new role as a spiritual guide.
On 7 December 2016, Junaid Jamshed tragically died in a plane crash near Havelian while returning from a preaching mission.
His son Babar Junaid often spoke of his father’s unwavering faith and determination to inspire others. In honour of his contributions, the Pakistani government awarded him the Order of Excellence in 2007.
