Lahore Qalandars, the twofold champions of the Pakistan Super League have declared their team list for Exxon Mobil Guyana Global Super League scheduled to take place between 27th November to 7th December in 2024. The team is made up of internationals, locals and young players. Guyana Amazon Warriors will be the opponents of the Qalandars in the first match and after that will play Caribbean cricket for the first time.
The overseas players include the south african exciting left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and the west indies hard-hitting all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite. Tom Abell, Luke Wells, and Adam Rossington are some of the English players who enhance the team’s batting lineup and on the other side, Kaleem Sana, the Canadian player is one of the bowlers who strengthen the team’s bowling lineup. This mixture of international players brings different kinds of experience of other cricketing nations to the team.
The local talent includes Pakistan’s all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Akhlaq, and the power-hitter Mirza Tahir Baig. The squad also includes four graduates from their Player Development Program: This coming season, the franchise needs to continue the development of domestic bowlers such as fast bowlers Salman Mirza and Tayyab Abbas, and batsman Muhammad Faizan.
Team Director Sameen Rana also welcomed the team’s inclusion in the GSL and highlighted that this is a new frontier in Caribbean cricket. The management led by Head Coach Darren Gough and accompanied by the specialized batting and bowling coaches are therefore looking to get the squad right for the Caribbean conditions.
A preparation strategy of the team is preparing with training sessions and studying the activities of rival teams. Since Qalandars have performed nicely in PSL they want to replicate their success in this new tournament they want to cement their position as one of the most feared franchise sides across the globe.
