Pakistan and Qatar have reassured each other of enhancing their strategic bilateral relations during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shehbaz Sharif to Doha. The many areas of discussions in the PM Sharif and the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s meeting included the promotion of bilateral trade and investment and energy cooperation. The leaders also discussed other emergent regional concerns: the case in Palestine and the role of Qatar in providing humanitarian assistance.

While in talks on the delegation level, they also shared pertinent details of the bilateral relations of Pakistan and Qatar and tried to identify new areas to diversify the relations in various fields. During the discussions, the focus was basic on the collective vision of economic cooperation and regional integration; Prime Minister Sharif praised Qatar’s position on the Palestinian affair it presented at the 79th UNGA. Pakistani premier also invited the Amir of Qatar for a visit to Pakistan, which demonstrates that the diplomatic push between the two countries is increasing.

The visit featured a significant cultural highlight as both leaders toured the “Manzar: Many paintings and sculptures selected by the curators for the show “Art and Architecture of Pakistan from the 1940s to Today” on view at the National Museum of Qatar. The delegation went around the exhibition with Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the chairlady of Qatar Museums where they admired masterpieces of Shakir Ali and Sadeqain and other notable Pakistani artists. The exhibition represents the deep-rooted cultural relations between the two nations and presents to the whole world the artistic colors of Pakistan.
