During a ceremony in Lahore, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi alleged the caretaker Punjab government of corruption worth Rs 20 billion during the free wheat flour distribution campaign in Punjab.
He said that, political leadership needed a clear vision for the system to function properly. The state-run free flour campaign was overall good but the corruption level in it was also huge upto Rs 20 billion.

A sum of 84 billion was allocated for free flour distribution campaign in Punjab from which Rs20 billion was wasted in corruption.
Coalition Leadership’s failure
The leader from PML-N said that, “Recently Rs 84 billion worth of flour was distributed. I am sorry to say that around Rs 20 billion was looted”. He also questioned the value received by poor in exchange for the money spent.
Abbasi claimed that coalition leadership’s failure was the reason for the country’s problems. He continued that even those, who were not up to the task had become leaders now.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that, competent politicians are the only solution to current problems. The country would not move forward without reforms in the judiciary and bureaucracy.
Allegations are ‘false & fabricated’
The Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir said that, all the allegation by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are false and fabricated. He added that not even a single penny of corruption had taken place in the free flour scheme.

The Information Minister said that, this was the most successful campaign in Punjab history benefitting 30 million deserving people. Both the governments federal and provincial contributed funds for the scheme.
The government is ready to be held accountable for every penny spent, Information Minister added.
