The Federal government of Pakistan filed a plea with NEPRA to implement another electricity surcharge in order to recover Rs 335 billion. The NEPRA responds to hear the plea on March 16th.
The plea submitted by Federal government include the implementation of Rs 0.43 paisa per unit surcharge on electricity supply that will continue from July to October 30th. The plea also includes Rs 3.23 per unit surcharge for consumers using 300 units of electricity per month.

As per the plea application submitted by government consumers using agriculture tube wells will have to pay Rs 0.43 from July to October on basis of per unit surcharge. Earlier NEPRA also allowed its distribution companies to charge additional fuel cost for four months.
The total cost allowed by NEPRA was Rs 3.82 per unit surcharge issued by power authority.
Economic downfall and IMF deal
Minister of finance Ishaq Dar assured that Pakistan is on final terms with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and we are hoping to sign an agreement in next few days. He said that government is trying hard to revive the economy and will overcome the problems soon

While addressing a seminar in Islamabad Ishaq Dar said that, “I and my team are absolutely committed to completing this programme to the best of our ability, We seem to be very close in signing a staff level agreement with IMF in next few days”.
