Zainab Ahmed is an American Prosecutor, and partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She co chairs the firm’s National Security Practice Group, and a member of the White Collar Defence & Investigations, Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation and Labour and Employment Practice Groups.
Education
Born in 1980 to Naeem Ahmed in New York, she went on to study Judiciary at Columbia University and passed out in 2005 with a Doctorate degree, and before that she did a Bachelor in Science in 2002 from Cornell University.
Career Prior to joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher;
Before this, she served as a Senior Assistant Special Counsel to Special Counsel Robert S Meuller after a successful career as a prosecutor and trial lawyer in Washington DC and New York Court.
She had supervised a unit of 20 attorneys, investigators and staff prosecuting sensitive counter terrorism, counter espionage, and cybercrime cases also. Her work mainly is focussed on white colour defence and investigations as well as regulatory and civil litigation challenges such as matters involving corruption, anti money laundering, sanctions and FCPA issues. Ahmed has a wide range of experience in federal, state and international cybersecurity laws, regulations and standards. With that, she also advises clients on intellectual property rights including handling enforcement defence and litigation.
The Terrorist Takedown;
Zainab has worked with many law enforcement agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Intelligence Community, Department of State and Department of Defence too. She has sent many terrorists behind bars belonging from organisations such as ISIS, al Qaeda, who have planned and executed attacks against the US be it US diplomats or US military personnel.
For this reason, she was featured in The New Yorker with a headline that said Taking Down Terrorists at Court.
