Bunyan Ul Marsoos: Why Pakistan Calls Its Missile Strike This

Pakistan has announced a significant military response to India’s recent airstrikes by firing its drones and missiles under the codename of ‘Operation Bunyan ul-Marsus’  which contains the Fattah-1 ballistic missile. ‘Bunyan ul-Marsus,’ translated in totality from the Quran, conveys a ‘solid wall made from lead’ or a tightly cemented wall/structure.’

The verse refers to those who fight in the sense of serving God as being a ‘strong wall.’ Pakistan has probably used the name to denote strength, unity, and sense of religious based purpose in their military response.

Religious Based Name

The use of the Quranic verse for the military operation sounds more than just symbolic, it means something — the operation is about more than pure defense, it’s about ideology. Analysts assess that this is Pakistan trying to wrap up the strikes as having a religious and emotive essence, especially in light of India’s successful Operation Sindoor, which struck targets deep inside Pakistan for the first time since the war of 1971.

In response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 civilians were killed, India launched Operation Sindoor. The nature of the attack was horrifying, as accounts suggested that the terrorists identified their targets as non-Muslims before calmly executing them in front of their shocked families.
