US Assures Pakistan of Assistance to Counter Extremism

In the wake of recent tragic suicide attacks in Balochistan, Khyber and Pakhtunkhwa, the US. reaffirmed support for Pakistan in its fight against all forms of extremist violence the US. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller reassured at a daily press briefing, on the need for continued bilateral cooperation It was emphasized.
Miller pointed out that earlier in the year, Washington and Islamabad had high-level counterterrorism talks. The focus of the talks is to address the shared terrorist threats faced by the two countries and develop strategies for cooperation in critical areas such as border security and terrorist financing “We will be working with Pakistan to see if we can better assist Pakistan in its efforts to combat all forms of extremist violence,” Miller said. He acknowledged the immense suffering being faced by the people of Pakistan due to the terrorist attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the injured who wished him speedy recovery. Mastung in Balochistan and Hangu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have lost heavy lives in recent suicide attacks. The attack killed 60 individuals in Mastung near the mosque during preparations for the Eid Miladoon Nabi feast. Similarly, six people, including a police officer, were killed in a bomb blast at a church in Hangu. The swift and decisive action of the police prevented further deaths.
