The United Arab Emirates’ passport is once again the best in the world, coming in first on the Global Passport Index for the seventh year in a row. The UAE has the most visa-free or visa-on-arrival destinations (179) and also has the most diplomatic reach and foreign mobility. Its impressive run is the result of ten years of steady economic changes, policies that focused on investment, and strong foreign ties.
After the pandemic, it became even clearer that the UAE has the best mobility. It was one of the only countries that made it easier for people to travel when many papers lost their value. Today, it is the most important passport in the world and in countries where most people are Muslim.
Pakistan Close to the Bottom of the Rankings
Pakistan is still near the bottom of the index and only lets people go to 45 places without a ticket. It can’t move around the world as much as it would like because of security issues, limited international outreach, and political problems in the area. Pakistan’s passport is still one of the weakest in the world, along with Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
But the measure says that Pakistan has gotten a little better compared to previous years, along with countries like Yemen and Bangladesh. This means that things are getting better, but slowly.
India at 69: Mobility is okay, but the country can do better
India is 69th in the 2025 score, which means it has a medium level of travel freedom compared to other quickly developing Asian countries. India is still building more international relationships, but its passport still doesn’t let you go to as many places without a visa as the passports of more powerful countries. The ranking also shows that more bilateral deals are needed, especially as competition in global travel grows.
]Singapore, Spain, and the Best European Countries Stand Out
Singapore’s amazing rise in the 2025 score is one of the most notable changes. The nation has the second-best passport in the world, with 193 places it can go to without a visa. With Spain in second place, this shows that Europe’s political systems are working well.
Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and Switzerland, a strong group of European countries, share the fourth spot, each giving access to 188 places. Their rankings show that Europe has always been the best at letting people move.
The 8th spot is shared by another group of countries, which includes
- The Republic of Croatia
- The Republic of Estonia
- The country of Slovakia
- Slovenija
- United Arab Emirates (as part of the larger mobility estimate)
- UK
These countries have high trust, strong global ties, and stable politics.
