Sudan Flood Havoc: UAE President For Providing Urgent Aid To Victims

Impacted by the Severe Rains and Floods in Sudan

In order to ease suffering and better the living conditions for those impacted by the severe rains and floods in Sudan, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the distribution of AED 25 million as ‘immediate humanitarian relief.’

The directions of the President to offer aid demonstrate the UAE and its citizens’ solidarity with the people of Sudan in such terrifying circumstances.

The help is intended to help Sudan in controlling the devastating impacts of the heavy rains that inundated a large part of the country.

UAE’s Policy and Humanitarian Mission

The UAE’s policy and humanitarian mission to lend a helping hand to underprivileged communities around the world through relief and humanitarian programmes and projects, which help lessen their suffering and fuel their development efforts, are supported by this gesture, which attests to the deep-rooted relations the two countries share.

79 people have already died as a result of the violent downpours that have engulfed much of Sudan since the beginning of this month. According to the most recent figures, over 50,000 homes either entirely or partially collapsed across the nation. The refugee camps in Darfur have also been severely affected, yet they are still in need of aid. A disaster area has been designated in South Darfur.

The overwhelming rains have had an impact on the majority of Sudan’s 18 states. Floods in El Gezira destroyed roads and cut off entire settlements. Additionally, a lot of agricultural lands have been submerged.
