Shahid Afridi Reveals the Heartfelt Reason why he Chooses Shaheen Afridi for his Daughter

​Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has shed light on the reasons behind his daughter’s marriage to fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. The 23-year-old Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shahid Afridi’s second daughter entered marital bliss in a Beautiful Nikah ceremony held in February this year. Their wedding festivities, including the marriage ceremony and Valima reception which took place in September 2023 in Karachi and Islamabad, respectively.

In a candid interview on a private news channel, Afridi revealed that the idea of this union had been in the works for quite some time. Afridi mentioned, “Shaheen’s family had been in contact with mine regarding this matter for an extended period. A human should be a human; that is the most important thing. He is a great human. I didn’t know him personally; our families had connections through the past, but we lost contact.”

Afridi went on to highlight the commendable qualities that Shaheen possesses. He stated, “People who played domestic cricket with Shaheen praised his attitude and admired him as a human being, noting his maturity. So, these aspects were crucial to me because a person’s character is of utmost importance.”

The conversation took an interesting turn when the former cricketing legend was asked about offers he may have received to venture into the world of acting. Afridi disclosed that he had received offers for acting in movies, even from India, but he never seriously considered pursuing an acting career.

He asserted that his identity was firmly rooted in cricket and acting was never a path he or his family explored extensively. While he did dabble in acting for TV commercials, he felt content with his primary calling as a cricketer.
