Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who are longtime regional rivals of Saudi Arabia and Iran. They took a landmark step to resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict in a historic phone call. This direct engagement follows the recent restoration of bilateral diplomacy, a process facilitated by China and shows promising progress in diplomatic efforts to solve the enduring crisis in the Middle East.

The main focus of their 45-minute discussion was the Israeli-Hamas conflict, an issue of global concern due to its profound impact on civilians and infrastructure. Actively engages with international and local stakeholders to defuse the situation and ensure the protection of innocent lives in line with the principles of international humanitarian law.

Humanitarian concerns related to the Gaza Strip were also discussed during the discussion. The deteriorating situation in the region has raised serious concerns about the welfare of the residents. Both leaders expressed a shared concern for the well-being of the Palestinian people, and stressed their commitment to ending too long of suffering and violence which Palestinian people have been facing for years.
