In an upcoming political showdown, Sanam Javaid, an active member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is set to contest elections against Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Despite facing legal troubles, Sanam remains committed to her political journey.
Sanam Javaid, along with numerous PTI members, is currently in custody due to her alleged involvement in the disturbances that erupted after the arrest of the then PTI chairman, Imran Khan, on corruption charges in May. Accused in various cases, including an attack on the Corps Commander House in Lahore and the burning of police vehicles during protests, Sanam is undeterred in her pursuit of a political career.
According to her father, s Sanam will submit her nomination papers for the general elections scheduled for February 8 from Lahore’s PP-150 constituency. Despite being behind bars, she will represent PTI in the polls and also vie for a nomination on the women’s reserved seat.
The father emphasized their ongoing efforts to gather the necessary documents for Sanam’s nomination papers. Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz of the PML-N has yet to announce the constituency from which she will be contesting.
