After a nail-biting final showdown at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Islamabad United emerged victorious, clinching the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title after a wait of five years. Led by Imad Wasim’s exceptional performance, Islamabad United managed to defeat the favored Multan Sultans in the ninth edition final.
Chasing a target of 160 runs for their third PSL title, Islamabad United began their pursuit with a strong start from their opening pair, Colin Munro and Martin Guptill. However, despite Munro’s early departure, Guptill continued to anchor the innings, supported by Azam Khan and later by Imad Wasim.
Guptill’s splendid knock of 50 runs off 32 balls, coupled with valuable contributions from Azam Khan and Imad Wasim, propelled Islamabad United towards victory. Despite facing setbacks with the loss of wickets, they managed to stay composed, thanks to sensible batting from Naseem Shah and Hunain Shah, eventually securing the win with a single run needed off the final delivery.
