President Zardari Begins Two-Day Dubai Visit, Gilani Takes Acting Role

The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, started his 2-day official visit to Dubai for his short stay which lasted two days. Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani takes over as President of Pakistan since the Constitution requires him to do so when the regular president travels away.

After Senate Secretariat approval, the Cabinet Secretariat issued a document about taking over presidential executive powers temporarily. The president of Pakistan will come back to his country on March 15.Under Pakistani constitutional rules, the Senate chair takes over presidential tasks when the president is away or unable to work.
