Pakistan will not travel to India for World Cup 2023

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi said that, Pakistan Cricket Board suggested Hybrid Model, if accepted then the World Cup 2023 will also be played according to Hybrid model and Champions Trophy 2025 also.

He added that, Pakistan Government will not allow Green shirts to visit India for World Cup as India is also refusing to visit Pakistan for upcoming Asia Cup. He added that, we have proposed Hybrid model and decisions will be according to it.

Hybrid model is a compromise venue that teams select in replacement of any venue. Najam Sethi said that, “We have offered to host Asia cup in two phases, four matches of the group stage will be played in Pakistan, after that we will go to a neutral venue to play rest of the matches“.

BCCI Scheme for Asia Cup

It must be keep in mind that BCCI has been forcing the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to shift Asia Cup outside Pakistan. They are continously trying to convince ACC members not to play in the event in Pakistan.

Najam Sethi said that, ‘I met a senior ACC representative in Dubai three days ago. I explained to complete the hybrid model to him. He went back to Jay Shah to discuss this model. Later on, I had a WhatsApp chat with him in which he said Jay Shah has no problem with it but he will consult with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka before making any decision”.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka agreed to hybrid model and chosen UAE as a neutral venue but Indian media is reporting that both the countries have opposed Pakistan’s Hybrid model.

Najam Sethi also assured that, there will be no sanctions. It is totally Pakistan’s decision whether to play or not in India due to security reasons.
