20% Eid Fare Discount Offered by Pakistan Railways
As travelers prepare for Eid-ul-Azha, Pakistan Railways has issued an announcement on an Eid discount of 20% on fares across the country. The discount will apply across all services for each of the three days of Eid and will apply to both classes and regular trains – special Eid train services will not be covered by this offer. The discount will only be available to current bookings.
Railways made the decision to issue the discount “under the special instructions” of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Minister for Railways. The initiative was to provide financial relief to citizens traveling during the celebrations, specifically as people make the journey to celebrate the holiday with their own families.
Railways sources confirmed that the department was seeking additional measures to provide safe and timely operations during the holiday period. This will include additional security during station and train services and measures to enhance punctuality. Many have received the Eid fare news with positive feedback as it provides much needed relief as a response to the increased costs of transportation. The fare reductions would contribute to an increase in the volume of passengers, many of whom are traveling to see relatives and loved ones for the holiday period. Coinciding with their role to serve the public in providing travel, railways have played a role in encouraging affordable passenger travel.
