Pakistan Proposes Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi as Venues for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is going to happen in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board PCB has proposed three cities Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi as Mian venues for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This tournament, scheduled for next year, could mark the first ICC event in Pakistan in nearly three decades. ESPNcricinfo, a leading sports website, reported that the PCB shared an initial draft schedule with the International Cricket Council ICC that includes these three locations.

The Champions Trophy will be played between Eight cricket teams.This amazing Cricket tournament that will be played over two weeks. The exact dates haven’t been announced yet, but Pakistan is gearing up for the event. The Punjab Cricket Board proposal follows a visit by the ICC. ICC will come and check the security to check the venues. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in a news conference in Lahore, said the meeting with the ICC’s security team went well and that they are working on upgrading the stadiums to meet international standards.

 There are  still so many challenges in the way. Due to political tensions, India might not tour Pakistan, casting doubt on their participation in the tournament. The last time India played in Pakistan was during the 2008 Asia Cup. Because of these strained relations, India and Pakistan generally play against each other only during ICC tournaments at neutral venues.

In addition to the political issue, Pakistan needs to upgrade its stadiums. Mohsin Naqvi thinks our ground needs improvements especially at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Karachi’s National Stadium. He thinks these improvements are imported to ensure a better experience for players and fans as well. He said they would finalize bids from international companies to help with the redesign. They will also work with Local Consultants to implement the Upgrades.

Despite the tight timeline and the complex challenges, the PCB is determined to host a successful ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
