The Pakistan High Commission announced that it has issued 154 visas to Indian pilgrims traveling to Pakistan to visit the sacred Shree Katas Raj Temples in the Chakwal district of Punjab province. The visit is part of the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines that has existed since 1974. Each year, thousands of Indian pilgrims make the pilgrimage to Pakistan for religious festivals under this agreement. This year, the pilgrimage will take place from February 24 to March 2.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan confirmed that a group of 154 pilgrims from India has received the visa for the journey. The chargé d’affaires of Pakistan in New Delhi, Saad Ahmad Warraich, extended best wishes to the pilgrims, hoping they find spiritual fulfillment and peace during their pilgrimage.
He further stressed that these acts would garner further interfaith harmony and cultural understanding. “The government of Pakistan shall continue facilitating such visits in the spirit of religious harmony and mutual respect,” Warraich added.
The diplomatic mission of Pakistan reiterated its commitment to strengthening cordial ties between the two countries through religious and cultural exchanges. Every year thousands of pilgrims from India cross over to Pakistan to participate in significant religious events thus enlarging the bond of people from both countries.
