Blind cricket of Pakistan team made their mark on the world of sports by having the Blind T20 World Cup title. The event being held in Lahore and Multan ended with a grand finale where Pakistan outplayed Bangladesh by 10 wickets. The victory not only proved the team’s talent but also the unbeaten way of the team in the entire competition, which was also a landmark event for disabled sports in the country.
The Batting side of Bangladesh put a competitive target of 140 runs on board before getting bowled out at the 7th wicket. But Pakistan’s response was simply sensational. The team chased the target with consummate authority and reached the target in style without surrendering a wicket and this valuable knock of half-century came off just 22 balls. This dominant performance send the signal to one and all that Pakistan’s strategic planning along with individual talents dominated blind cricket.
It will be unfair not to mention that the tournament had its fair share of politics especially in regards to India or lack of it to be specific. Even though the blind cricket team was given NOC by the sports Ministry there was no permission granted to the Indian team to travel to Pakistan by Ministry of External Affairs. Indian blind cricket Association General secretary Sailendra Yadav said that after waiting for 25 days for permission they were informed by the MEA that it would not be possible to participate and hence had to pull out of the tournament.
