Pakistan is joining hands to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Tuesday, September 17. This day is on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal in the Islamic calendar.

People are demonstrating their affection and respect for the Prophet in every part of the country. Houses, stores, shops, mosques, government buildings, and many other buildings are beautifully illuminated with lights and colorful banners. In big cities, every corner is decorated with green and white like in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar.

The public has organized special functions known as Mehfil-e-Milad in mosques, centers, and people’s homes. During such occasions, they chant poems that glorify the Prophet and discuss his life and messages.

Imams are delivering sermons about the Prophet’s teachings of compassion, non-violence, and acceptance of others. They want people to emulate him in their everyday existence, which is quite remarkable. They are also demanding the solidarity of Muslims and all other people in the entire world.

Muslims are asking for the welfare of Pakistan and people all over the world to be free from any harm. Ironically, they are praying that the country will be rich and that its population will not suffer.

This celebration is not new to Pakistan only. Other groups of Muslims in other countries such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, and Indonesia are also celebrating the birth of the prophet through similar occasions.

The police have boosted security to prevent any incidences of violence during the large congregations. They are guarding mosques, the routes to be taken during procession, and other public areas to ensure there is no violence.

Thus, these occasions prove that Pakistanis have immense respect for Prophet Muhammad. They also promised to adhere to his doctrine of no violence, being polite to other people, and showing respect to other people.
