Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reached Iran to attend the 28th ECO session, a diplomatic event that speaks volumes of good and enhanced relations between Iran and Pakistan. In Dar’s official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, he met with Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, explored both the countries’ common interests, and decided that the two nations should strengthen their cooperation in different fields as there is a strategic dialogue between Pakistan and Iran.
Dar and Araghchi’s second recent meeting was about extensive cooperation between the two countries and regional affairs. The diplomats discussed prospects for cooperation and shared concerns in foreign policy with a focus on the most prominent issues of the present world. They stressed the need for regional security and cooperation and both sides showed a willingness to develop cooperation across political, economic, security, and cultural domains.
During the Economic Cooperation Organisation ministerial meeting, Dar will sign the ‘Charter for ECO Clean Energy Centre’ showing that Pakistan is ready to push forward for economic cooperation in the region. The foreign minister is expected to stress the opportunities of increased connectivity in the ECO area calling for better roads and railway links, and faster visa and border crossing procedures for economic and diplomatic integration.
