The Federal Minister for Law and Information has said that voting on the no-trust motion against PM Imran Khan could shift to next week.
In a historic judgement on Thursday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) had ordered NA Speaker Asad Qasier to summon the session on April 9 (Saturday) no later than 10:30 am to proceed with the vote on the no-trust motion against the premier.
The SCP had also restored the Assembly after it declared the government’s decision of dissolving the Assembly and the Deputy Speaker’s ruling null and void and contrary to the Constitution.
Fawad said the voting on the motion could be shifted to the coming week instead of today.
“The foreign secretary will apprise the house on the threat letter before the vote of no trust. We will not take much time,” said Fawad Chaudhry.
As per sources, the PTI-led federal government has planned not to proceed with voting on a no-confidence motion today.
However, some sources said that the voting would take place at 8 pm today.

They added that PTI’s members had been directed to hold “lengthy debates during the session,” so the voting on the no-trust could be “avoided due to a shortage of time.”
On the other hand, the NA secretariat asked members that the voting on the no-confidence motion against the PM must be conducted today; otherwise, the speaker would be charged with contempt of court.
The ruling PTI’s political committee had suggested the party hand down en masse resignations in the Centre, Punjab, and KP. The PTI also decided to proceed with the appeal in the apex court on its decision of setting aside the speaker’s ruling.
The PTI’s political committee suggested making the “threat letter” public but advised that a decision should be made after thoughtful consideration.
The Opposition also mulled moving to the apex court after a consultative meeting was held at Shahbaz Sharif’s chamber.
