Neeraj Chopra established his Olympic fame by bringing international javelin athletes to his home state, Haryana, through the first Neeraj Chopra Classic in Panchkula. The event will open on May 24 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. World Athletics accepted the tournament as an A’ category event that matches Continental Tour Gold in terms of point value.

India’s top athlete wants to make the one-day competition an annual event to build up athletics in India and add it to athletic events worldwide. After the Diamond League, the Continental Tour acts as athletics’s second-best global meet with its gold, silver, bronze, and challenger competition levels

Neeraj Chopra wants to enhance the event by growing the number of track and field disciplines as he plans for future years. The leading javelin thrower took part in his latest competition in India at the National Federation Senior Athletics Championship Bhubaneswar earlier this year before Paris training began.

Neeraj Chopra brought home another impressive result for India when he competed at the Paris Olympics:-

  • After achieving a third place ranking in Paris athlete Poovamma gathered the silver medal by throwing 89.45 meters.
  • He achieved his most successful throw at the second attempt.
  • He faced difficulties with his following four attempted foul throws
