Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has said that he was shocked to see Mahira Khan’s tweet about his work

Controversial Pakistani writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar recently opened up about his issues with actress Mahira Khan. Speaking to media, Khalil-ur-Rehman stated that he shares a “very respectful relation” with Mahira Khan. He added that he was “starled” to read Mahira Khan’s tweet about him and his work.

“I share a very respectful relation with Mahira Khan. I respect Mahira Khan a lot and the same was from her side. I was startled to see Mahira Khan’s tweet that what she has written,” Qamar said.

Khalil-ur-Rehman further underlined that he would have spoken to Mahira Khan in a good manner if she would have called him personally and discussed the matter.

“If she had done this, then probably I would have responded her in a good manner,” the writer added.

This statement has come in response to Mahira Khan’s tweet about Khalil-ur-Rehman in March 2020 over the writer’s controversial remarks against a woman panelist on national television.

“I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on TV is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking,” Mahira Khan had said in her tweet last year.

Other Pakistani celebrities had also called out the Pakistani writer-director for his sexist remarks. Taking to Twitter, actress Mawra Hocane expressed disgust with Qamar’s statement, demanding the industry to ban him from all platforms.

“Such abusive & disrespectful behaviour shall not be tolerated. Anyone who works with him is equally responsible for his behaviour,” she had tweeted on March 4, 2020.

As per media reports, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar had made a derogatory remark against his co-panelist Marvi Sarmid during a live television show about ‘Aurat March’.

In yet another controversy last month, the 58-year-old writer made sexist slurs at female panelist Ailia Zehra during a live panel discussion.

The journalist later took to Twitter and shared a short clip of Qamar’s remarks against her, narrating her ‘horrible’ encounter with the writer.

“Just had a horrible encounter with toxic masculinity. Khalilur Rehman Qamar lost his marbles during a talk show when I called him out over his hateful rhetoric. He left the show while yelling at the top of his lungs. Called me a RAW agent and spewed sexist slurs,” Zehra wrote in her tweet on February 20, 2021.
