The 34th National Games postposed until December due to a heatwave.

The 35th edition of the National Games, originally scheduled in May 2025 in Karachi, has been delayed due to the severe heatwave in the city. Since temperatures would be reaching around 40°C from April, it has been not safe for athletes both to undergo training and competition. The Games are, therefore, rescheduled for December 6 to 13, 2025.

Sindh will see the hosting of the National Games after 18 years. It is expected that about 10,000 competitors, including athletes, officials, and veterans, will vie in 21 venues. KMC Sports Complex will be the nerve center, with an opportunity for the rejuvenation of facilities like a new swimming pool and an advanced electronic timing system.

The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah concern their eyes for athlete safety and uphold that the National Games shall be conducted up to international standards. The Sindh government stands committed to lend its support including the release of funds and infrastructure development.

Such a decision shows increasing awareness of the impact of climate change on sports scheduling and upholds the commitment to providing safe and fair playing conditions for the athletes.
