Karachi Police to Seize Vehicles Driven Without Valid License

Karachi SSP IGP Sindh police Ghulam Nabi Memon has declared that vehicles and motorcycles without proper licenses will be impounded. In a recent interview at ARY news, the IG explained that untrained driving is the core reason behind traffic jams in the metropolis.

The police department is working on a system to record cases against those who have been previously fined for the same offense twice. For the first time, habitual offenders will be e-tagged to ensure they are more accountable than other offenders. Memon said that SHOs who do not instantly register cases would be removed from their offices while SSPs would be made answerable for unregistered cases.

The new rules are being introduced at a time when most parts of Karachi, particularly University Road, are witnessing traffic congestion due to construction of Red Line.
