In Recent news the Islamabad High Court (IHC) made a Significant Decision regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s legal case known as the Cipher Case. The IHC led by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq denied Imran Khan’s Requests for bail and the Cancellation of the First Information Report (FIR) in this case. This Decision Comes after both Sides finished Presenting their arguments on October 16.

The Cipher Case is about whether a Confidential document was wrongly used for Political Purposes. It has Sparked a Series of legal actions. During the hearing Imran Khan’s lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa argued that his client should not have been accused because the former Prime minister’s Cabinet had already made the Cipher Public. He also claimed that Imran Khan had legal protection under Article 248 of the Constitution, which Shields certain officials from legal action for their Official actions.

Another lawyer Representing Imran Khan, Barrister Salman Safdar said that a specific part of the law, Section 5 of the Official Secrets Act, didn’t apply to this case. He argued that the key element of Sharing Sensitive information with Foreigners wasn’t Present in the FIR against the PTI Chairman.

Imran Khan wanted the FIR Canceled and also Sought bail in the Case which also involves the Party’s vice-chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Both leaders have been formally accused by a Special Court set up under the Official Secrets Act and they are Currently held in Adiala Jail.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) filed a Charge Sheet in the case, Claiming that Imran Khan and the former foreign minister were Guilty and Should face trial. The FIA also mentioned that Imran Khan had kept the cipher and used it for Political Purposes. The FIA Presented Statements From Witnesses and Transcripts of Speeches made by Khan and Qureshi.

The Cipher Case, known as “Cipher case , started in March 2022 when Imran Khan Claimed that a Foreign nation had Conspired with his Political Rivals to overthrow his Government. This Controversy led to Diplomatic Tensions between Pakistan and the United States.
