Goal setting is the process of identifying something that you want to accomplish and establishing measurable time frames. Harvard Business Review (HBR) has published articles suggesting that most successful people in business world give themselves time to know what the want and what must be done.

In fact, it is argued that most successful leaders tend to spend minimum 10 minutes per day alone just to go over their day and analyze their doings. It is suggested that this habit is the most useful tool to goal setting because often we seem unsure of the things that we want to do.

A tip to goal setting: You are can go for you passion as profession or part ways but what matters is your struggle and hardwork to achieve that passion.

We often come around people who perused one career but soon switched saying it was boring or they want something more challenging. That happens when goal setting is not done at all or not done properly bot enough time spent or not searched thoroughly.

Therefore, students at early age should be made understand of the importance of of goal setting for students. Setting goals allows students to choose where they want to go and what they want to achieve in life. By knowing what they want to achieve, they know what to concentrate on. It gives long term vision and motivation.

Having sharp, clearly defined goals which students can measure, will allow them to take pride in accomplishing those goals.

Basics of effective goal setting

Express goals positively: We should have proper knowledge about our goals and proper flow of thinking on it. Like, “To improve my spelling” is much better goal than “Don’t spell with so many mistakes”.

Be accurate: If we set an accurate goal, putting in dates, times and amounts so that achievements can be measured and can be satisfied at achieving it.

Set priorities: When we have several goals, give each a priority so that we can focus on one. Simply it is like “A goal should scare you a little, and excite you a lot”.
