Google launched its new Doodle to welcome spring while also honoring Nowruz 2025 festivities on the Persian New Year. According to California UX designer Pendar Yousefi instagram post, the artwork represents the beginning of new life and connects everyone. The Doodle honors a tradition established 3000 years ago that people take part in throughout the Middle Eastern and Central Asia regions, plus parts of South Asia and Europe.

People celebrate Nowruz because it marks the Persian New Year on the spring equinox, which shows how light beats darkness. People celebrate it according to Zoroastrian custom for 13 special days. The key custom involves placing seven items on the Haft-Sīn table which each named starting with the Persian letter ‘S’. People set Sabzeh (sprouts) and Samanu (sweet pudding) among six other items (Senjed fruit, Seer garlic, Seeb apple, Somāq sumac, Sorkeh vinegar) at the center of the Haft-Sīn table.

Before Nowruz, people conduct a housewide cleaning called Khāne-takāni to cleanse their spaces from hazardous energy. Chaharshanbe Suri represents a special fire-jumping celebration conducted on the last Wednesday before Nowruz. Participants of Chaharshanbe Suri jump over bonfires as they sing special chants to remove bad fortune and welcome positive energies. People end the activities by gathering in nature on Sizdeh Bedar, which represents a new beginning that starts at Nowruz.

The special Google Doodle activities show important changes that happened in history plus popular customs of our culture. The new Doodle created by Pendar Yousefi shows how people connect and hope for a fresh beginning during the Nowruz festival.
