FIFA banned the Pakistan Football Federation from its duties when the organization failed to adopt needed rules to fairly manage football activities across Pakistan. Pakistan football activities stay halted until the PFF members can complete official changes at a planned meeting.
Since last June FIFA assigned a Normalisation Committee to handle Pakistan football issues and oversee new leadership elections. Despite its duties, the Normalisation Committee continues to have governance trouble which kept the sport in a crisis period. The committee has seen different leadership in the past five years without solving basic problems.
The conflict between the Pakistan Sports Board and the Normalisation Committee slows down the vital football governance changes. On Monday Haroon Malik chairman of the Normalisation Committee told parliament members his term ends on February 15 and Pakistan faces danger of suspension if needed changes are not made. He stated that modifying the guidelines would not make him enter the PFF election competition later on.
The PFF has experienced its third suspension since 2017 because of football administration problems in Pakistan.
