culinary icon chef zakir qureshi dies at 58 in karachi
Renowned Pakistani chef and television personality Zakir Qureshi has passed away at the age of 58 in Karachi, his nephew Abdulwali Shayan Qureshi confirmed on Tuesday.
The celebrity chef, who had been on dialysis due to kidney issues, died around 7pm on Monday. His funeral was held after Asr prayers today in Karachi’s Saudabad area. Qureshi had returned to Pakistan just 20 days ago after residing in the United States for the past five years.In 1980 Zakir started his cooking education at Sheraton Hotel when he turned 13 years old. During his 40-year professional experience he worked for top kitchens in Botswana, UAE, Caribbean, Singapore, South Africa; gained 27 years of international cooking experience returned to his home country, became famous with Indus TV program in 2005; and further popularized his craft with DawnNews show.
