KP Advisory Council

The KP Advisory Council met for the first time in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The newly formed 11-member body was set up to handle the province’s administrative affairs following the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule.

KP Advisory Council Holds First Meeting

The federal government assembled the council with key appointments, including Kifayat Ullah Khan for Interior and Home Affairs and Tariq Mehmood Pasha for Finance. The meeting set a clear tone for coordinated, performance-focused administration across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Peace and Transparent Governance

Governor Kundi stressed that restoring peace remains the top priority, pledging zero tolerance for terrorism and an upgrade in the operational capacity of the provincial police and the Counter-Terrorism Department. The strategy aims to dismantle the entire terrorist ecosystem, including financiers and facilitators, rather than only targeting individual fighters.

Council members were also instructed to work transparently, ensure timely execution of tasks and follow a clear performance standard. A firm stance against corruption supports public trust, and it complements wider efforts to understand why governor’s rule is defended as a last resort under Article 234.

Public Services and Economic Revival

The council outlined priorities in healthcare, education, employment generation and infrastructure, including roads, electricity and water supply. Special attention is planned for underdeveloped districts affected by past violence and displacement, giving residents a realistic prospect of recovery.

The administration also highlighted that improved security will pave the way for reviving tourism and attracting investors to the province. Such momentum could restore confidence in a region rich in natural beauty and talent. Public attention has also turned to the prime minister’s account of peace efforts, while the wider history of federal intervention in KP offers useful context. Debate continues, including the row over the governor’s security meeting, yet the council’s agenda keeps the focus on stability and service delivery.
