Pakistan livestock exports

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Dr Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi have discussed expanding Punjab Oman cooperation in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, aquaculture and food security. The meeting in Muscat focused on creating stronger economic and technical links between Punjab Oman cooperation.

The discussions provide opportunities for Pakistan to expand agricultural trade while improving access to modern technology and expertise. Cooperation in water management and food security could also support Punjab Oman cooperation efforts to modernise production and strengthen long-term agricultural resilience

Pakistan Eyes Greater Livestock And Meat Exports

Punjab has made an offer to Oman for the supply of good-quality meat and live animals at competitive rates in the international market. The planned expansion could provide Pakistani livestock producers with more avenues and strengthen ties to Gulf markets.

The initiative also includes efforts to facilitate live animal exports for milk and meat production, and greater access to international markets could support farmers, livestock businesses and related supply chains while contributing to Pakistan’s broader export ambitions.

Punjab Oman cooperation to help Punjab expand prawn farming

Oman has been involved in setting up Punjab’s first shrimp centre to support plans to expand shrimp farming across about 30,000 acres. The proposed farming areas include Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh and Sargodha. An advanced Aquaculture Mall and Shrimp Diagnostic Laboratory will be established at Shah Garh.

The cooperation could introduce greater technical expertise into Pakistan’s emerging aquaculture sector. Better diagnostics, modern farming practices and investment in fisheries infrastructure can help strengthen production while creating new opportunities in domestic and export markets.

Skilled Workforce And Technology Form Wider Partnership

The two sides also discussed skilled and semi-skilled employment opportunities for workers from Punjab in construction, agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries. Oman is expected to examine labour requirements and possible ways to facilitate access for suitably trained workers.

Technology sharing, agricultural innovation and water-resource management were also identified as areas for cooperation. Such collaboration can support Pakistan’s food-security objectives while giving Punjab opportunities to strengthen agricultural productivity, workforce skills and export-oriented production.
