UAE Global Humanitarian Leadership
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also reestablished its position as a global humanitarian powerhouse, whereby it has given over Dh370 billion in aid to more than one billion citizens across the globe. This milestone was announced by Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State of International Cooperation, at the Emirates International Press Conference, as a result of the philosophy of giving practice throughout the history of the UAE, not as charity, but as a moral duty and national identity. Based on the tradition of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the further development of the humanitarian initiative by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE humanitarian mission remains to overcome crises, support the disadvantaged groups of the population, and unite people by kindness.
The UAE’s Humanitarian Vision: Beyond Borders and Numbers
The central theme of this campaign is the role of highlighting the unshaken commitment of the UAE in humanitarian relief. The country has more than 40 active charities and partners in more than 80 countries which has enabled the assistance programs to reach regions that have been ravaged by war, famine and other natural catastrophes. Some of the notable ones are 100,000 tonnes of aid that has been provided to Gaza, medical evacuation in war-torn countries and the success of polio eradication in Pakistan. Such attempts highlight the philosophy of the UAE as a humanitarian body, which is generous, but also highly strategic in its global responsibility.
Moreover, the credibility and diplomatic power of UAE in establishing peace and resilience work language can be seen in its role as a reliable mediator in crisis situations such as the release of prisoners in Ukraine or aid in Yemen, Sudan and Afghanistan.
Humanitarian Infrastructure and Global Partnerships
The humanitarian capacity of the UAE is anchored on a strong institutional and logistical background. The city of Dhabi, which hosts more than 80 international institutions, became a humanitarian logistic centre particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when the UAE organised massive medical supply operations worldwide. The formation of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council is yet another way to increase the country’s capacity to mobilize the available resources quickly and effectively.
At the heart of this international engagement is the fact that the UAE believes in multinational cooperation and that it has been working hand in hand with other organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to facilitate life saving missions. With the help of such alliances, the UAE still advances its message of solidarity, humanity, and togetherness in the world, making sure that the language of compassion is universal.
