Sana Mir Makes History by Receiving ICC Hall of Fame Honour
Former women’s team captain Sana Mir has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, making her the first Pakistani woman cricketer to receive such a prestigious and global honor in cricket history.
Her name will be forever inscribed with cricketers like India’s Jhulan Goswami and Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, alongside whom she was inducted this year. Sana lifted two Asian Games gold medals with the national women’s team as captain. All this while being watched over by, and serving as a role model for many young girls in Pakistan, who focus their attention on the sport of cricket; her contribution to uplifting women’s cricket in Pakistan is significant!
The ICC acknowledged her for her brilliant playing career, but also as a spokesperson and advocate for women’s cricket globally.
Reacting to her induction, Sana Mir said she is filled with joy and that this not only recognizes and reflects real hard work over the years and dreams fulfilled, but the love for cricket which she has always kept close to her heart during her playing days. Sana Mir would like to thank her fans, family, and teammates, for their amazing support through her journey.
