Pakistan Issues 6,751 Visas to Indian Sikhs for Vaisakhi 2025

This year saw the country granting a rather remarkable 6751 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for participation in Vaisakhi celebrations in India-more than double the number normally allowed.

This is quite a huge jump in the number of visas when compared with the previous years. Only 2250 were issued in 2023 with the previous years keeping the number between 2500 and 3000.

In view of the crowd strength, the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee divided the pilgrims into two groups, one will depart for Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal, the other one will set off for Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, they will converge again at Nankana Sahib, birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, on April 12.

The core rite for Vaisakhi will be performed at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib on April 14, a treasured time for community members.

The last feast pilgrims will gather together, and then proceed to Lahore by April 17 and onwards via the Wagah border to India on 19 April.

For this occasion, the latest Vaisakhi is not only celebrated as a religious event, but becomes a beautiful symbol of peace, faith, and cross-border spirit.
