A political event of some importance has been the announcement from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that it would boycott the All-Party Conference (APC) convened by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor. Its central information secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, disclosed that the boycott was due to what they considered governmental ‘’complicity by acquiescence’’ in the civilian massacre and political persecution. PTI’s stand reflects increasing rivalry between the two political parties and also shows the multi-faceted political scenario in provincial governance in Pakistan.
PTI has brought specific allegations against the PPP saying that the PPP is working against PTI to have it vanish. As per Akram PPP was active in putting a resolution in Balochistan Assembly in order to get the PTI banned. The party also expressed concern for PPP’s actions in Sindh, claiming that the ‘operation against PTI workers is unlawful, unlawful and an attempt to detract democracy, disrespect for.
Still, PTI believes in its ability to manage provinces and still enjoys the boycott. The party says that there is no other party in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and emphasizes on the correct management of affairs in the said province. As for the positive politics, Akram of PTI also showed his readiness for the positive politics stating that if the governor has positive things to say then the PTI provincial government will not slam the door on him but will take sometime to ponder over the suggestions and try to have positive interaction in the future.
