Australia Clinches U19 World Cup 2024 with Dominant Win Over India

In a thrilling encounter at Benoni’s Willowmoore Park, Australia emerged victorious over India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024, continuing their dominance in international cricket. This marks Australia’s third consecutive win over India in the finals of ICC events. This is following their successes in the World Test Championship and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Opting to bat first, Australia set a formidable target of 254 runs in their 50 overs. Harjas Singh played a crucial role in their innings, scoring a brilliant half-century with 55 runs off 64 balls, featuring three boundaries and as many sixes. Captain Hugh Weibgen, Oliver Peake, and Harry Dixon also contributed significantly with scores of 48, 46, and 42 respectively. Raj Limbani as the bowler played really well for India. He took three wickets and he tried to stop Australia’s total score.

Australia’s bowlers, led by Mahli Birdman’s impressive figures of 3-15 in seven overs, showcased their prowess as they bundled out India for just 174 runs in 43.5 overs. Adarsh Singh and Murugan Abhishek were the only Indian batsmen to offer some resistance. Singh top-scored with a gritty 47 off 77 balls, including five fours and a six, while Abhishek contributed a valuable 42 off 46 balls with five boundaries and a maximum.

The comprehensive 79-run victory in the final made Australia’s status strong and it has made them a cricketing powerhouse. This shows their talent and prowess at the youth level.
