The 5th Vice-Chancellors’ forum of Islamic World Universities inaugurated a conference in Islamabad on the theme of ‘Towards Disruptive Technology in a Globalized World‘. The Vice Chancellors’ forum 2023 was organized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
The Vice Chancellors’ forum included 20 out of 40 OIC countries sharing different experiences in advancing technology, fostering collaborations and strengthening the connection between universities.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, Islamabad, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Comsats University Islamabad, Islamic World Educational and Scientific and Cultural Organization along with British Council of Pakistan organised the forum.
The Federal Minister of Education Rana Tanveer also talked to the forum as chief guest, paying attention towards the crucial need of skill development in youth. He said that universities need to respond more efficiently in skills development among youth.
He further added that education is the basic need to develop good moral character. He said that we need to develop a key framework among OIC nations to facilitate each other in increasing reasearch pathway for students.
Need of Technological Pathway
President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi talked with the forum through video link, talking about importance of youth efforts for a country. He explained about the adoptation of technology in Muslims world. President talked about the giant technology companies saying that they took over the natural resources and man power skills through technology.
The Director General of ICESCO, Dr Salim M.A. Malik said that, According to Holy Quran, Mankind has been given limited knowledge, yet this knowledge has caused disruption. He added that with the introduction of robotics in various field, 97 million people are about to lose their jobs. It is the time when we all need to reconstruct the glorious Islamic Heritage in Science.

Other official members of the forum also talked and shared their point of views regarding the advent of technology in current era. Prof Dr Muhammad T Afzal, Rector of Comsats University Islamabad requested government to allocate 4% of GDP to education sector to change the culture and patterns of education.
