Chairman PTI lashes out at Pakistan’s judiciary

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday questioned the judiciary to explain why it opened its doors at midnight, hours before Khan was ousted from the prime minister’s office. The opposition’s successful no-confidence motion against Imran Khan in the National Assembly led to his ouster.

Khan, in his first public address since losing his government, addressed the judiciary and asked: “My judges, my judiciary, I have spent time in jail because of your freedom because I dream that one day the judiciary would stand with the weak people of the society, and not the powerful. I ask the judiciary why you opened the court in the dead of night. Have I ever broken the law? When I played cricket, did anyone ever accuse me of match-fixing?”

Khan addressed his successor Shehbaz Sharif and told him to stop harassing PTI supporters. “This crackdown against our youth over social media won’t give you anything. You will not find a place to hide.”

The former PM asked security institutions if Pakistan’s nuclear assets would be safe under the Sharifs-led government.

“Whenever a prime minister of Pakistan was removed, people used to distribute sweets. I am thankful to God that I was removed and you all came and gave me such respect.”

“Our masses have become a nation. Whoever thought that an imported government of the US would be accepted by this nation. The entire nation gave their answer on Sunday that the imported government stands rejected.”

Khan said the “decisive moment” had arrived and the nation needed to choose if it wants liberty or slavery. “Do you want to be the slaves of the US or do you want real freedom?”He said that the ‘imported government’ was full of individuals out on bail. “Shehbaz is out on bail, his son is on bail, Nawaz is a convict, and his son is an absconder and the same is the case with his daughter, sons, and son-in-law.”
