Corona claims 118 more lives across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A total of 118 people lost their lives to COVID-19 on Wednesday as the national toll of active COVID-19 cases reached 77,294.

Of the 118 deaths, 112 occurred in hospitals while under treatment. 43, of the dead, were on ventilators. Most of the deaths were seen in Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

As per the latest data issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the last 24 hours saw another 5,395 people testing positive for COVID-19.

The highest number of ventilators were occupied in Gujranwala (88%), Lahore (82%), Multan (81%) and Islamabad (51%). The maximum oxygen beds were occupied in Swabi (93%), Charsadda (93%), Gujranwala (85%) and Peshawar (75%).

Elsewhere in the country, around 509 ventilators were occupied while no COVID affected was on a ventilator in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Balochistan. 

A total of 64,685 tests were carried out across the country on Wednesday. 9,923 tests were conducted in Sindh, Punjab conducted 37,775 tests, 8,519 tests were conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and 6,178 tests were carried out in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). A total of 1,000 tests were done in Balochistan, 725 in AJK, and 565 in GB.

So far, as per the official data, around 646,652 people have fully recovered from the virus, making it a significant count. 

Since the eruption of the contagion, a total of 15,872 deaths have been recorded in the country.

Around 7,209 deaths have been recorded in Punjab (68 in last 24 hours), 221 in Balochistan (2 in last 24 hours), 625 in ICT (6 in last 24 hours), 4,533 have perished in Sindh (3 in last 24 hours), 2,761 in KP (29 in last 24 hours), 420 in AJK (10 in last 24 hours) and 103 in GB.  About the coronavirus tests, a total count of 10,942,771 has been achieved so far.
