6 tips to have good mental health

Mental health includes our psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It affects how we feel, think, and act. It helps determine how we handle stress and relate to others. Mental health is essential at every stage of life.

Try these tips to keep your mental health intact.

1. Value yourself:

Treat yourself with respect and kindness, and avoid self-criticism. Make space for your hobbies and favorite projects to broaden your horizons. Do a crossword puzzle, plant a garden, initiate dance lessons, learn to play an instrument or become fluent in another language.

2. Ensure taking care of your body:

Taking care of yourself can improve your mental health. Be sure to:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Eat nutritious meals
  • Avoid smoking and vaping
  • Exercise helps decrease depression and anxiety 
  • Get enough sleep. Research says that lack of sleep contributes to a high rate of depression in students. 

3. Surround yourself with nice people:

People with strong social and family connections are healthier than those who lack a support network. Undertake plans with supportive family members and seek out activities where you can meet new people.

Also, remember to smile and enjoy the humor in life. Research says that laughter can spike your immune system, relax your body, ease pain, and reduce stress.

6. Quiet your mind:

Try meditating and relaxation exercises. Remember that saying a prayer can improve your state of mind and outlook on life. Research shows that meditation can help you feel calm and spike the effects of therapy.
