318 Pakistani nationals who were stranded in Syria have been evacuated in a key humanitarian operation facilitated by the Pakistani administration. The nationals were taken by a chartered flight from Syria to the capital city of Lebanon Beirut then to their country showing good international relations even during difficult times.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal received the happy faces of the people whom he welcomed and informed them of the previous status of the place which had made their return impossible.
The evacuation was done under the directives provided by the country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with cooperation from the Pakistani Embassy in Damascus. Umar Hayat, Deputy Head of Mission in Syria, saw off the nationals to the border and Nawab Adil, the Deputy Head of Mission in Beirut received them.
Before this mass evacuation, 81 Pakistanis, some of the pilgrims, were successfully brought into the Lebanon border and taken to Lahore.
